Religious Writings by George Burgess (1829-1905)

George Burgess, as stated in his diary, formulated his religious views when he was 21, and while living in America; he lived in America from about 1844 to 1857. Some of his religious views were quite radical for the times (most evident in the closing chapters of his religous writings), but then the Victorian era, faced with the advancement in scientific discoveries, was the period of ‘enlightenment’; as many Christians began to question the literal interpretation of the bible.

From 1899 to 1901 George Burgess wrote about his religious beliefs in depth, which have been passed down through the generations to me, and which I have subsequently transcribed, and published on this website.
