George Burgess, who was a prolific writer and loved reading, had a great love of poetry; not only did he collect poems and short stories from newspapers and stick them into his scrapbook, but he also took great delight in transcribing them 'in his own hand-writing'.

George Burgess loved transcribing Victorian Poems, and short stories onto his own personalised paper; copying them from the newspaper publications he cut out and stuck into his scrapbook.  Click the button below to read some of his transcripts.

George Burgess also wrote his own poetry, most of which are published here.  To view them, press the button below:-

Grace Russ, like her great-grandfather, was also a prolific writer who loved reading; and like her great-grandfather wrote her own poetry, most of which are published here.

Like her great-grandfather, a lot of her poetry (which reflects her life experiences) is based on British humour.  To view her poetry, press the button below:-

As with my mother and great-great-grandfather, I too am a prolific writer, although my poetry lacks the humour of my ancestors; my poetry tends to be more factual and scientific based.
