5: Perfect Love Casteth out Fear (Sermon by Eva Baglin at Bath, Old Down)

Perfect Love Casteth out Fear
John 4 – 18v
Read John 7 to 21

Sermon by Eva Baglin to 20 women at Bath, Old Down

This text is the result of John's personal experience, like those early Christians Martyrs we have read so much about.  The secret of every Christian's fearlessness in face of danger and death is his or her sincere love for the Saviour, when we love the Saviour we desire to grow in grace and are constantly praying that God will fill us with His Holy spirit that we may go forth and show the people we come in with enduring love was not only for the martyrs of long ago, nay, it has since that time cheered, strengthened, soothed and carried thousands upon thousand through tribulations strong and deep, and thousand in adverse circumstances are being born up by it every day.

It has brightened the days and shortened the nights of those who have pressed through years of martyrdom on beds of sickness in their homes or in the hospital enabling them to sing the songs of conquering grace and I can assure you they need plenty of grace.  That's where love comes in again, nurses and friends who give their talents and time to love and serve the sick folk.

Love has also sustained and held up Mothers who for years have died daily in the kitchen or attic martyred by the fires of life's sorrows and the wrongs inflicted upon them by Godless Husbands and wayward children.  It has given courage to many persecuted in the store, workplace and street, and even in our own Army Halls where people are apt to be unkind some time.

Here's a little illustration of a house on fire, many people came to see and witness the fire, they knew several children were trapped in the burning house but no one had the courage to go in and attempt to rescue them, but when the Mother of the children came to the scene she immediately plunged into the raging flames to rescue her children.  Ordinarily she  was a timid woman who wouldn't do anything but her daily duties but when she knew her children were in danger her Mother love cast out all fear and she instantly became unafraid of all dangers to herself and that is how we as Salvationists should forget all our fears such as, what will others think if I do this, I know that I am talking about, because I have often felt like that, especially when I know I ought to have given my testimony or prayed but because I was afraid of criticism I refrained from doing so.  But you know if you let that sort of thing develop in your life you begin to get sour and miserable believing everyone is wrong bar you.

Thank God I rededicated my life and try by Gods help to go out and help others and show them that by loving God they can get so much more out of life.  We are living in dangerous times always wondering what is going to happen next.  It is only love for our Saviour that can cast out our fear.  Are we fearless witnesses for Christ in a world so full of sin and unrighteousness?  Only Christ like love casts out fear.

This world of ours is begging for torrents of love.  It is in need of Salvationists and Christian comrades who do not take so much pride in their perfect organisations but who are filled with the eternal love of God.  To love abundantly says Henry Drummond is to live.  To deny love is to deny the spirit of Christ.  Paul insists walk in love.  Help us to walk in love among our neighbours that's where we should live the life of a Christian.  Sometimes it's much harder to keep saved and live a holy life in our own homes where no one but our own family are there to hear and see what we do, but it is there we must, and I repeat must live our lives as God would have us live.

In the Home League we sometimes sing "League the Homes in love together keep them pure and bright".  Righteousness exalts a nation when its homes are right.  When the parents are saved what a difference it makes to the home life.  I can remember when we were all home how we had the family prayers and how Mother used to make each one of us read the bible in turn, we took it then as a part of our home life, it was as we had always been used to from birth; but what a help that has been to use since we have had home of our own.  That early teaching of my parents has helped us through many difficult times.  It is the loving sacrificing forgiving Christ who said "And if I be lifted up from the earth I will draw all men unto me."

The Christ of the cross is still drawing men and women unto Himself by love.  We must keep ourselves in the Love of God.  We must not expect the love of God to keep us unless we do this; keeping and being kept are a dual responsibility.  We can be assured God will do His part if we do ours, as wives and mothers we can all do our little bit by letting our light shine in the Home.  If we work in Harmony in our homes and in the Corp things that were thought impossible will be accomplished.  So in Gods work we must certainly work in harmony if we want the Holy Spirit to come amongst us.

What a lot of Women can do for the extension of Gods Kingdom, if there is anyone here this morning who feels they ought to rededicate their lives, I beseech you to do so.  Pray sincerely and God will hear your prayer.  And most of all dear Lord we pray that through our hearts thy love may flow, for so shall we along life's way thy wisdom and thy patience show.  So teach us Lord on thee to wait that seeking to obey thy will.  Thy gentleness shall make us great as we a Woman's task fulfil.

This is the thing I care for most.
The prayer I always pray:

"Let my life help some other life
It touches on the way"

And most of all Dear Lord,
We Pray.

Lets have a little talk with Jesus, tell him all about troubles.

Jesus is Mine
Prayer: Luke 22: 39-46

Thy Will be done, Jesus is our example. In the supper room we think of Him as our pattern in the prayer of thanks, giving and prayer of intercession.  Here in the garden of Gethsemane, we see Him as our example in personal petition.

Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me never the less not my will but thine be done.  Too often in our prayers there is another emphasis they are self-centred rather than God centred.  We regard prayer time as an opportunity to tell God what we want.  This is legitimate or legal providing we go beyond what we think best, and make a real quest in spiritual understanding toward what God knows is best.  The will of God was not the evil of the cross but the obedience of the Son, and in our lives His Will may not be environment made chaotic by the sin of man, but our dedication to redemptive* action in those circumstance.  For us, as for our Lord, the prayer, “Thy will be done” is no sigh of resignation but a cry of triumph.

My God, my father, make me strong.  When tasks of life seem hard and long, to greet them with this triumph song; Thy Will be done.

*Redemptive pertaining to redemption - seeming or tending to redeem

Draw from my timid eyes the veil,
To show; when earthly forces fail,
Thy power and love must still prevail.
Thy Will be done.

Renew my will from day to day
Blend it with thine and take away
All that now makes it hard to say
Thy Will be done.

This is the thing I care for most
The prayer I always pray
Let my life help some other life
It touches on the way.

When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you till it seems as if you could not hold on a minutes longer, never give up then, for that’s just the place and time that the tide will turn, and you will be able to say thy Will be done.

I hope these few words will help you dear sisters during the years to come and when you have to pass through sorrow, or come up against things which look hopeless, just take courage and say “Thy Will be done”. Pray and God will hear you.

The Language of Flowers

The tall, beautiful daffodil holds erect its lovely head, regarding the world with triumphant tranquillity.  We, too, should regard our lives with the same feeling of quite confidence.  The daffodil “Brave the winds of March” with beauty, showing us how we should face life with courage and a cheerful heart.

I’m glad I’m a Christian
And trusting the Lord
And reading my Bible
Believing His Word
The past is forgiven
And now I am free
A mansion in Heaven
Is waiting for me.

7: A Fable with Mary

Oh thank you dear, excuse me while I get my breath back.  Dear me I forgot I can’t get along as fast as I used to, my illness fairly took it out of me this time.

Those flowers there’s something special about anything you send across.  This house seems to have a charm about it and every thing you do seems touched with Gold somehow.

I think I know what you mean Mary.  I said to watch him when He came here from time to time and I’m not surprised the memory of Him makes you feel that way.

Well I can quite imagine He would want to be with you all here for He surely did love coming here.

Did you say He knows all about our feelings Mary, Then do you think he knows all about my son.

What a comfort you are Mary.  There’s something about you that reminds me of your master.

Thank you Martha, ah, yes, my Reabon was a gardener too, the same as Lazarus.

Mary, you said the Master could see into our thoughts and know all about our feelings.  I know He does now.

Rejoice with Rejoice, now I can well believe what you said about the Master being with you in this house. I know He is here.  Come home my son.

8: Thy Will be Done - Mathew Chapter 6, Verse 10.

I suppose when ever we hear these words or read them or even think of them we remember a time in our life when there was laid on our shoulders burden almost to heavy to carry.  We remember some friend coming to us at that time and whispering

“This is Gods Will, try and say thy Will be done”.

Again we call to mind the numberless tombstones we have seen bearing those four little words and we have come to think of them as being a prayer of resignation - That and nothing else.

But I wonder if we are right in this decision of ours.  Our Lord was talking to His disciples, telling how He wanted them to pray and some of the things He desired them to ask for.  Amongst other things He said when we pray say thy Will be done, and while it is true that He longs for us to be resigned to the Will of God, whatever that may be, or wherever it may lead us, I think there was much more in His mind than mere resignation, much as He wishes that for us.

What is it that our Master longs above all else for each one of us.  He came to earth that we should be cleansed from our sins and be assured of our forgiveness that we should be born of the spirit and come into the family of God a new creature in Christ Jesus.  We must realize our own personal sin before all else.  We need them to glimpse the beauty of the life of Jesus and as we look at His purity, His Love, His Life of self sacrifice and service compare our lives with His.

Then we begin to see how far we are from the Kingdom of God.  If we seek His forgiveness we will hear His voice saying Him that cometh unto me I will in no wise cast out, and we plead for our own asper – once of the new birth this then is the first thing we should mean when we say thy Will be done I want my life to be changed, I want to be born again a spiritual child in thy family.  We should read His word constantly filling our minds with His promises then we would find our lives greatly enriched.  How often our Christianity is kept entirely outside our daily work, every thing we do must be pleasing to God, try to uplift folks who need comforting and folks who think the whole world is against them, because things in life have become very hard and difficult to endure.  That’s where we can show we are doing the will of God.  Some of your dear sisters here come up against troubles and adversities but if you put your trust in God and remember this little verse.

When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as if you could not hold on a minute longer never give up them, for that’s just the place and time that the tide will turn, you will be able to say “If I could only see the difference between the really big and little things I do not ask for better or for more I only ask for this.  God keep my soul from growing petty.  There is a story of a little girl who used to spend her summer holidays with her grand parents.  One summer when she was about 10 years old she heard her grandfather arise about half past five each morning and go down into the garden.

“You do get up early Grandpa, what do you do”
“He replied “I go into the garden”,
“Yes I know but what do you do then you get there.  Do you dig, or weed, or water, or what?”
Her Grandfather replied “God walks in the garden early in the morning, and I go to meet Him there.”
“Oh I see, I should like to see God too, can I come with you.”

So early next morning the old man and little child went hand in hand to the garden, and made their way to an arbour at the end of the garden path.  They sat silent for some time drinking in the beauty of the early morning and then the little girl said

“He is a long time coming”
“He is here now, can’t you here him speaking to you?”
“No,” she said “Wistfully, I wish I could.”
“Do you hear the lark singing up there in the sky some there. Yes of course, God says I want you to be joyous as the lark pouring our your love and praise and thanksgiving till all who care near enough to you may feel the wonder of your joy.”  “Do you see the roses there in front of you?  He says He wants your life to be so beautiful that those who live with you and work with you may see its beauty and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.  Look at the Jessamine, can you smell its lovely perfume.  He wants your life to be so fragrant that all who even pass by may be aware of the work of God in your life.”

That morning the little granddaughter took her first lesson in communion with God.  How often when kneeling silent before Him has He spoken to our hearts let us give Him the opportunity more frequently and see what He can do for us, as women we can do such a lot of good it we live our lives as God would have us live.   Le us look back and see the way along which we have come.  Can you honestly say that we have sought for the Will of God and carried it out?  He has a plan for each one of use, hoping we will seek and fulfil it.  For us as for our Lord, the prayer (Thy Will be done) is no sign of resignation but a cry of triumph.

My God, my Father make me strong
When tasks of life seem hard and long
To great them with this triumph Song
Thy Will be done.

Draw from my timid eyes the veil
To show when earthly forces fail
Thy power and love still prevail
Thy Will be done

Renew my will from day to day
Blend it with thine and take away
All that now makes it hard to say
Thy Will be done.

May God bless each one of you here this afternoon, and most of all dear Lord we pray that through our heart Thy love may flow for so shall we along life’s way Thy wisdom and Thy patience show so teach us Lord on thee to wait that seeking to day Thy will, Thy gentleness shall make us agree as we a woman’s task fulfil in our homes.

This is the thing I care for most, the prayer I always pray.  Let my life help some their life it touches on the way.  I hope these few words will help you dear sisters during the months to come and when you have to pass through sorrow o come up against things which look hopeless just take courage and say Thy Will be done.

“….How often our Christianity is kept entirely outside our daily work everything we do must be pleasing to God try and uplift folks who need comforting, and folks who think the whole world is against them because things in life have become very hard and difficult to endure, sometimes we visit Manor Park Hospital to see the patients there, and when we look upon them lying there some year in and year out trying to make the best of it, relying upon the goodness of folks who are willing to brighten the days, and shorten the nights of those who have pressed through years of sickness in their homes, and in the hospital, enabling them to sing the songs of conquering grace, and I can assure you they need plenty of grace, also the nurses and friends of the Hospital League who give their time and talents to love and serve the sick folk, by doing something to ease the burden of folks who come up against troubles and adversities, we are doing the will of God.  Some of you dear Sisters here this afternoon have travelled the path of adversity but if you put your trust in God and remember this little verse -

The Shadow on the Blind

Mr Ernest Plum was a Grocer by trade.
By attention and tuck he a fortune had made
No tatter or maker of mischief was he
But an honest a man as you ere would see
Of a Chapel close by he was a Deacon they say
And his Minister lived just over the way

Mr Plum was returning to rest one night
He had just undressed and put out the light
When he pulled back the blind and peeped from behind
Tis the custom with many to do so you find.

(the next page is missing, but finishes thus!)

And so ended his doom.

The rat, our shadows my dear must have been seen on the blind.  The moral of this story is don’t believe every tale that is told.  It’s also better to have the light in front and not behind as often strange figures are seen on the blind.

Blind and that explains the cause of the tale, as often it can be explained.

13: Patches (Sermon by Eva Baglin)

My few words this afternoon is on patches, where is not so much mending and patching done these days but most of you here can remember the patch work quilt.  In fact I have one at home, which I treasure because it belonged to my mother, it was made out of bits and pieces left over from our dresses.

Have you ever thought how our lives are made up of patches, the patch of kindness the patch of loneliness; those people who are lonely, each one of us have this afternoon can contribute to this patch, by seeking those we know are alone and too reserved to mix with people, but when you get to know them they make good friends, and also it is an end to their loneliness.

Then there is the patch of misunderstanding, this world of ours would be a very different place to live in, if we could remove from it some of our poor, human misunderstandings with one another, don’t you agree.  For it is in our married life that we look for comradeship that we can find nowhere else.  We expect to be understood, and when we are understood like that in our own homes, in all our varying moods, in all our ups and downs of body, mind, and spirit, we have got something which brings the best out of us, something firm to which we can anchor our very souls when the winds are blowing hard against us, something for which to thank God on our knees every day that we live.  I know as well as any woman how many homes there are up and down the country that are not homes at all.  I know that there is no place on earth so cold, and so desolate as a home where love has flown out of the window.  But I also know that the real comradeship of married life is no rare experience.   You don’t talk about if of course, perhaps you don’t even think about it, but it is there, then comes the patch of temper.  This is one we should try to conquer so that our lives will be much better to live with, because many a home and marriage has been wrecked through temper.

Then there is the patch of love.  What a lot we can do in love for one another.  Only Christ like love casts out fear.  This world of ours is begging for torrents of love.  It is in need of Salvationists and Christian Comrades who do not take so much pride in their perfect organizations but who are filled with the eternal love of God, willing to do anything for the extension of Gods Kingdom.  To deny Love is to deny the Spirit of Christ.  Paul insists walk in Love.  The Christ of the cross is still drawing men and women unto Himself by Love.  Then there is the patch of tolerance, be tolerant to one another and agree to differ you will find it will avoid many a quarrel.

There is also the patch of Fear.  How we fear certain things, but how easily we can overcome these things, if we put our trust in God.  We are living in dangerous times always wondering what is going to happen next, this is where the patch of Faith comes in.  The Faith of Catherine Booth the founders Wife with all her amazing public work was a woman of the Home.  She managed to give a surprising amount of time to the training of her eight children to nursing them in sickness and to writing to them when she or they were away from Home.  When conducting meetings, sometimes remaining months in one town, she would rent a house nearby and have at least the younger children with her.  More than one caller found this mighty woman preacher engaged in cooking or ironing or sewing, or mending.  Her eldest son recalled that she would cut out and plan with anyone, that she not only patched our clothes but made us proud of our patches, being also a devoted lover and helper to her Husband.

Here is a story of George Muller….

The story Eva gave in her sermon is not written in her notes.  However, George Müller (1805-1898) was a Christian evangelist and coordinator of orphanages in Bristol.  He cared for 10,024 orphans in his life and he was well-known for providing an education to the children under his care, to the point where he was accused of raising the poor above their natural station in life.

After that wonderful Faith I think we will take the patch of Prayer.  I can well remember when we were all home how we had the Family prayers and how Mother used to make each one of us read the Bible in turn.  We took it then as part of our home life, it was what we had always been used to from birth.  But what a help that has been to us since we have had homes of our own.  That early teaching of my parents has helped us through many difficult times, their influence still remains with us, although they are both gone to meet their Saviour I only hope I shall leave such a good influence behind when I have to meet my Mother and Father in Heaven.  Our Home was a very Happy and pleasant one to live in.  Prayer also helps us not to worry.  Worrying prevents quiet thought and earnest believing prayer; therefore it is always bad to worry.  If circumstances are against us, we need quietness of mind cleanness of thought, decision of Will, and strength of purpose with which to face these circumstances and overcome them.  But all this is prevented or hindered by fret or worry.  First we should not worry over things that we can help, but set to work to put them right; Second we should not worry over things we cannot help, but quietly and confidently look to the Lord for such help as He see’s best to give.  There is no possible evil that may befall us, from which God cannot deliver us, if He sees that, that is best for us, or give us grace to bear, it that is best.  Nobleness of Heart enables us to see this.

14: Misunderstandings (Sermon by Eva Baglin)

I think this world of ours would be a very different place if we could remove from it some of our poor, human, misunderstandings one with another.  Don’t you agree, Human nature of course is a very mysterious thing nobody can understand it fully.  So much of it lies far down beneath the surface and it is only the surface of a personality that most people see.  The old friend who sits and chats with you over the fire in the evening sees the more; the partner of a lifetime, husband with wife and wife with husband sees more still.  Yet even then there are things which are not seen, depths that are not plumped thoughts that are too deep and too delicate for words, possibilities both for good and for evil that to the very end remain unfathomed and unknown.

There is no intimacy in life that can reach the central loneliness that lies in every personality.  Even we ourselves are mysteries to ourselves, do you feel for example that you really understand yourself.  Or do you find yourself as I do, continually surprised at yourself, disappointed to know what you are really aiming at, what you really do want and what you really do feel.  If so can we wonder, any of us that others find us a bit difficult to understand?  We ought to keep this quite clearly in mind from the first.  We resent misunderstanding, we feel people ought to know us better than to speak and act as they sometimes do; but it is easy to make a mistake in dealing with human nature.

We don’t wear our hearts on our sleeves so even those who wish us well often guess wrong by, what is meant to help us really puts a stumbling block in our way, let us think of them as such times as kindly as we can.  Well these misunderstandings upset us dreadfully don’t they?  The real hurts that we receive in life come from our friends.  It does not matter so much what an enemy thinks of us or says of us that hurts of course but not so deeply.  It is when the people whom we want to understand fail us that we suffer the most.  If this is true it follows of course that the misunderstandings of married life are the most serious of all for it is there we look for a comradeship that we can find nowhere else.  We expect to be understood and when we are understood like that in our own homes in all our varying moods, in al our ups and downs of body, mind, and spirit we have got something which brings the best out of us something firm to which we can anchor our very souls when the winds are glowing hard against us, something for which to thank God on our knees every day that we live.  I know as well as nay woman how many homes there are up and down the country that are not homes at all.  I know that there is no place on earth so cold and so desolate as a home without live, I also know the real comradeship of married life is no rare experience.  Many of you who are listening to me know quite well what it is you don’t talk about is, of course perhaps you don’t even think about it, but it is there.  I beg you not to treat it as a common thing.  Don’t take it for granted.  If you and your partner in life really understand each other do realize, wont you, where your treasure is.

So remember that without it life would be very, very different to both of you.  Do take the trouble to cherish it.  I had 18 weeks in hospital just before Xmas, I knew then the value of my dear husband so when we both lost our mothers together the wonderful affinity which we both felt.  So I say the only way to an answering understanding is by understanding God’s help, each one of us to be patient with one another, God has a work for each of us to do so let us do what we can for the master who has done so much for us and forget all the misunderstandings.  I always pray let my life help some other life it touches on the way.

16: Pearl of great price - Sermon written in the 1960s

We have just read in Matthew 14 Chapter 44 verse the description of the Kingdom of Heaven, Christ likens it to a hidden treasure, in verse 46 He likens it to a pearl of great price.  If a thing is hidden you must seek to find it, if it is of great price you must pay much for it.  We often hear the Kingdom of Heaven is said to be without price but I suggest it is above money and cannot be bought with riches, but there is a price to pay.  We must be willing to pay, if we wish to obtain.

It is a simple everyday fact that things that are obtained through sacrifice and hard work are valued more highly than things that just come with no effort on our part, (Easy come Easy go) is a well known and often true saying.  People’s nature is the same today as in the time of Christ.

His words are still just and true as in His days on earth, Christ knows us He paid a high price, for our Salvation and we must be willing to pay our share too.  What then is the price for us to pay to enjoy the pleasures of the Kingdom of God.  The men in the parables sold all they had in order to have enough to buy the thing they most wanted.  I can’t tell you what you must do, that is a decision between you and God.  In the Bible we read of a number of ‘fables’ which come between man and a complete Godly life, the rich young ruler was unwilling to sacrifice his wealth, others their friends and what most of us seem to treasure most, their freedom to do what they like.  So this evening let us be wise and let us value our ‘pearl of great price’ that has cost us much.

We must go on seeking all our lives, for Gods pearls and Gods treasures never end, and the Kingdom of God only starts here on earth and continues to Heaven and through Eternity.  So you must agree that whatever price we pay it is really a Gift from God.  Sometimes Jesus Christ calls us the Children of God an affectionate name, but children are not all the same, as I know by my two grandsons, they see things differently and like to have their own way and not our Saviours, perhaps we have the same attitude to his ways as many a child has to education, carefree they couldn’t care less, and there’s a lot of couldn’t care less families these days.  Like a child unable to see ahead we fail to appreciate the real purpose in working for His Kingdom.

As a school-boy throws down his bag, as easily can we cast away our devotion to Christ, and we become children spiritually immature and thoughtless reaping for Him a mean Harvest from a scanty sowing.

Does it really matter asks the child who goes unwillingly to school the voice of adult experience replies Yes.  Does it matter asks the child of God who is careless about His Father’s business of course it does.  We must give Him the very best, also we must show by our lives that the greatest pearl of all is Jesus Christ leaves a story of a man with a wonderful treasure, a thankful heart.  John R was a simple soul; do not pity him for to the simple their treasures are one of which he possessed to the full, the rare art of being thankful.  As he stood that night by the stackyard with the harvest ended that day a deep thankfulness flooded his heart like the moonlight, after working all the year round putting the best into it, it was the moment he waited for each year.  Thus seen in the moonlight he hugged himself with delight, the very gesture was an unspoken prayer to the Great provider.  His friend Aililick would be in one of those nights, now he was different something of an inglenook cheek politician,  Aililick knew all about agricultural bills and market trends and what fraction of his rightful dues the farmer failed to secure from an ill-advised government.  For Aililick the harvest was just another necessary operation.  His main interest bore on those who handled his produce and decreed its value.  John R would listen to a whole night of arguments, complaints and criticisms, would hear himself called simple and credulous But in the end he preferred to be John R.  and not Aililick.  Was Aililick any happier for it, would he stand at his stackyard gate on a moonlit night and know an indescribable sense of thanksgiving, John R doubted it.  This was one thing the simple possessed and perhaps it was the greatest boon in life.

Now take his neighbours on the big lower farm.  There was money there and they were go-ahead.  They were for ever dipping into the list of pleasure.  They went to England for the ‘Royal’ show to Majorca for holidays and to the city for dances and bridge nights.  They had done so much compared with him, and he had let all these things go by; But were they any happier for it?

When John R stood that night beneath the moon he was king of men.  Nothing the world could give equalled the thankfulness in his heart leaning on the gate-post he pondered long.  The world was full of discontent and crises.  People seemed happy only when they were quarrelling they called him simple and said he had not really lived.  That may well be, But his simplicity had found him one treasure, the secret of a thankful heart.  Happy John R thousands envy him, he’s found the pearl of great price, he really loved his Saviour and was thankful for all the treasures provided for him.

May God bless each one of us here this afternoon and make us like John R grateful for all the things provided for us.  Also to remember the greatest treasure of all is Jesus Christ the pearl of great price.

17: The Fortune Teller

Yes somehow I know I can trust you and it would help to tell somebody, you see I’ve always been on my own.  My parents died when I was a little girl and I was put into a children’s home with my sister, but only for a little while, then I was taken out and placed with foster parents and from then on I never knew what became of my sister who would have been my only relative.  Every year I got more lonely, nobody wanted me except for what they could get out of me.  I never made and friends even in fantasy land that’s why I took up fortune telling so that…
