Lifts Out Of Action

Nothing of import has happened – unless you consider the lift being ‘Out of Order’ worth a mention.  It certainly made me ‘mention’ a few things this morning when I had to walks up all those flights of stairs (our office is on the third floor and we have three flights of seven stairs each to each floor).  It has been reported – no I will amend that statement – it has been endeavoured to report it several times since 7am this morning but the ‘Emergency’ phone is not being answered.  I would have been very difficult if someone had been trapped in it all this time (now 11.30) so I shall not be going out at lunch time and HOPE they get it fixed before I come in again tomorrow morning, otherwise I am going to become a lot fitter more quickly than I intended – and certainly more quickly than my Doctor expected!

No Hot Water

I have no hot water at home at the moment.  The blooming gas heater has packed up on me so I now have to boil a kettle to get hot water for washing up and for anything else needing hot or warm water.  Such a bind.  Meg lives like this all the time of course so it wouldn’t be of any particular hardship to her but to me it is very irritating indeed as I have been spoilt over the years with the Ascot heater giving me constant hot water.  I can see all the old folk in their graves smiling at my predicament – no doubt to them constant hot water would have been a real luxury.  I am all right for washing though because at least the shower is working O.K. being run off the electricity supply.

Sun Glasses in Intensive Care

Also, my favourite sun glasses – those red framed ones – have been left at the Medical Eye Centre in Hay Hill and are in ‘Intensive Care’ at the moment, having lost a screw yesterday.  They think the lens will survive – it is suffering from shock at the moment – but they have to fit a new screw to the arm.  I was supposed to collect them today but with the lift being out of action I shall leave them in the tender care of the Nursing Staff at the Eye Centre until tomorrow.
